Aug 17, 2026, 9:11 PM

British Cycling has announced that both the men's and women's Lloyds Tours of Britain will offer free live broadcasts this year, a strategic decision to expand the reach of these major cycling competitions. Enthusiasts can tune into live coverage through the official Tour of Britain YouTube channel. Furthermore, the men's race, scheduled from September 2-6, will also be aired live on ITV.

Daily recaps of both events will be accessible on ITV4 and streaming on ITVX, signifying cycling's return to the channel after it ceased broadcasting the Tour de France. This extensive free-to-air availability is part of a collaborative effort between ITV and TNT Sports. British Cycling aims to attract its largest viewership to date, leveraging this partnership to elevate the profile of the sport.

Darren Henry, managing director of British Cycling Ventures, emphasized the significance of this expanded coverage. He noted that it not only boosts visibility for participants, teams, and host locations but also solidifies the Lloyds Tour of Britain’s standing as a leading sporting event in the UK. The goal is to make these premier cycling races accessible to as many individuals as possible, whether they prefer watching at home, on the go, or catching up later at their convenience.

The decision to offer comprehensive free-to-air coverage for the Tour of Britain is a commendable step towards democratizing sports broadcasting and fostering a wider appreciation for professional cycling. By removing financial barriers to viewership, British Cycling and its partners are actively working to engage a broader audience, potentially inspiring new generations of cyclists and fans. This inclusive approach not only promotes the sport but also reinforces its role as a vibrant and accessible community activity, reflecting a positive commitment to public engagement and athletic development.
