Mosaic Cycles Launches Zero Components for 32-inch Bikes

Mosaic Cycles has introduced a new component brand, Zero Components, born out of the necessity to overcome the scarcity of parts for their innovative 32-inch bicycles. The company, based in Boulder, Colorado, encountered significant difficulties in procuring suitable wheels, tires, and forks for their GT i55 32 gravel bike. Instead of adapting their designs to available components, Mosaic opted to create their own, aiming to push the boundaries of bicycle manufacturing and meet the specific demands of large-wheeled bikes.

This initiative started as an internal research and development project, Zero Ops, which explored new designs and engineering solutions without the constraints of existing component availability. The success of these internal developments, particularly in designing a fork for the 32-inch wheel size, highlighted a broader market need. Recognizing that other manufacturers faced similar hurdles, Mosaic transformed Zero Ops into Zero Components, a dedicated brand to supply these specialized parts to the wider cycling community.

The G55 32 Gravel Fork: A Tailored Solution

The G55 32 Gravel Fork emerged directly from Mosaic's need for a bespoke component for their 32-inch GT i55 32 gravel bike. Faced with a limited market for large-diameter wheel components, Mosaic Cycles founded Zero Components to produce parts that aligned perfectly with their innovative bike designs. Aaron Barcheck, the founder, emphasized that the existing market failed to support their ambitions, pushing them to design components specifically for their requirements, rather than compromising bike performance. This resulted in a fork meticulously engineered for the unique geometry and demands of a 32-inch gravel bike, ensuring optimal performance and rider experience.

This carbon fork is specifically designed for 32-inch gravel bikes, featuring a tapered steerer tube, a thru-axle, and flat-mount disc brakes with internal and external routing options. It boasts a tire clearance of 55mm, an axle-to-crown measurement of 445mm, and a 60mm offset, all rigorously tested to the ISO 4210 standard. Beyond the G55 32, Zero Components offers three other forks tailored for 700c wheels, including two specifically for road bikes. These forks are available for aftermarket purchases, catering to cyclists looking to upgrade their current bikes, and are also supplied to small-batch frame builders and original equipment manufacturers, fostering innovation across the industry.

From Internal R&D to an Independent Component Brand

Mosaic Cycles' journey into component manufacturing began with the realization that existing bike components were holding back their design aspirations. The brand’s evolution frequently outpaced the component market, particularly concerning tire clearance and specific geometric requirements. In 2025, Mosaic initiated Zero Ops, an internal R&D program aimed at exploring designs beyond conventional production bikes. While this program initially produced two experimental bikes, its true purpose was to challenge industry limitations rather than focus on specific models. This experimental approach paved the way for developing specialized components that addressed the evolving needs of modern cycling.

The pivotal moment arrived when Mosaic needed a fork for 32-inch wheels, a component that simply didn’t exist with the required specifications. Instead of compromising, they engineered their own. This led to the creation of the G55 32 Gravel Fork, which addressed not only the larger wheel diameter but also crucial geometric considerations like axle-to-crown height, offset, and toe overlap. Realizing the broader implications—that many other manufacturers faced similar challenges—Mosaic transitioned Zero Ops into Zero Components. This strategic move transformed an internal R&D effort into a new brand committed to solving component supply issues for the entire cycling industry, making specialized parts accessible to a wider market.
