This advancement leverages recycled carbon fiber, in collaboration with composites experts Lineat, to deliver unparalleled vibration damping and enhanced ride comfort. By focusing on material exploration rather than marginal gains in weight or aerodynamics, Parcours aims to provide a superior cycling product that combines race-level speed with everyday usability and a strong commitment to sustainability.

For years, Parcours has been at the forefront of cycling innovation, consistently adopting wider rims and introducing fresh concepts that have often set trends in the industry. From its original Strade wheels in 2020 to the Alta and FKT gravel wheelsets, the brand has demonstrated a keen ability to stay ahead of the curve. The new Strade GT wheelset is a testament to this pioneering spirit, taking a significant step forward by integrating recycled carbon fiber in a functionally smart way. This approach not only enhances the riding experience but also addresses the growing need for sustainable manufacturing practices within the cycling world.

The core of the Strade GT's innovation lies in its VibraCore technology. This system incorporates recycled carbon material, known as Aligned Formable Fibre Technology (AFFT), directly into the wheel's spoke bed. This strategic placement allows VibraCore to minimize vibrational energy at its source, preventing it from being transmitted to the bike and rider. Unlike external damping solutions, VibraCore works internally to achieve a smoother, quieter ride. This technology was rigorously tested in real-world conditions with Nottingham Trent University, showing a remarkable 19-23% reduction in vibration energy, equivalent to lowering tire pressure by 10-15 psi without sacrificing rolling efficiency or speed.

The process of reclaiming carbon fibers involves recovering them from composite waste or aerospace industry offcuts through methods like pyrolysis and solvolysis. These processes remove plastics, resin, and solvents, yielding short carbon fibers that retain many of the physical properties of virgin carbon fiber. This not only minimizes landfill waste but also reintroduces valuable material into the manufacturing cycle. Lineat then realigns these short fibers and combines them with resin to create new composite sheets. While AFFT retains original material properties, it also introduces a different structural behavior, making it ideal for selective use in critical components like the spoke bed of the VibraCore rim.

The design of the Strade GT wheelset has also undergone significant refinement. It features an updated rim profile, evolved from the existing Strade wheels' 49/54mm front/rear configuration, optimized for 30mm tires to enhance handling and aerodynamics. With a 23.5mm internal rim width and a hooked-bead interface, it ensures improved tire security. The Strade GT boasts notable performance improvements, including being 3.2W faster at 48km/h and 15% more stable than its predecessor, all while being approximately 390g lighter. The hubs incorporate a captive-spoke design with a four-pawl, 60T ratchet mechanism for quick engagement. The aesthetic of the wheels also reflects a premium look, with a unique diagonal cross-hatch carbon fiber pattern on the rim, a result of the AFFT integration. Parcours' founder, Dov Tate, has expressed confidence in extending VibraCore technology across other categories like triathlon and gravel, underscoring the company's long-term vision for sustainable, high-performance cycling products.

The initial riding impressions of the Strade GT wheels highlight their exceptional vibration-damping capabilities. Even on choppy road surfaces and rumble strips, the VibraCore technology effectively smooths out road buzz, providing a noticeably softer and quieter ride without compromising speed or wheel stiffness.
