Nineteen-year-old French prodigy Paul Seixas is set to make his inaugural appearance at the prestigious Tour de France, representing Decathlon CMA CGM. His participation marks a significant milestone, making him one of the youngest competitors in almost nine decades to tackle the iconic three-week race. Despite a recent setback from a crash, Seixas has affirmed his commitment and preparedness, expressing eagerness to contribute his utmost to the team's ambitions.

Seixas's inclusion in the Tour de France roster was initially announced in May, generating considerable excitement within the cycling community. However, an incident during the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes raised concerns about his readiness. Nevertheless, the young cyclist's determination prevailed, and he meticulously adjusted his training regimen to ensure optimal recovery and peak performance for the demanding race. His fellow debutant, Dutch sprinter Olav Kooij, will join him, alongside an experienced lineup including Tiesj Benoot, Aurélien Paret-Peintre, Nicolas Prodhomme, Cees Bol, Daan Hoole, and Matthew Riccitello.

Becoming only the second 19-year-old to compete in the Tour this century, Seixas carries the hopes of a nation eager for a French triumph, a feat not achieved since 1985. While he enters the race with an open mind, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of such a rigorous event, he is keen to make a significant impact, grow as a rider, and relish every moment of this dream opportunity.

Dominique Serieys, the team's general manager, emphasized a blend of ambition and humility in their approach. He highlighted the cohesive and talented squad assembled, designed to achieve their collective objectives. Seixas's debut is viewed as a crucial step in his development, offering invaluable experience on cycling's grandest stage. Kooij, another first-timer at the Tour, is poised to demonstrate his sprinting prowess in various stages, building on his recent victories after overcoming an early-season illness.

Kooij, despite a delayed start to his season due to illness, has regained his form with impressive stage wins. He voiced immense gratitude for the team's faith in him and outlined clear goals: to support Seixas in achieving the highest possible overall ranking and to secure at least one sprint stage victory. Both young talents are poised to leave their mark on the Tour de France, symbolizing a new era of cycling excellence.
