Pinarello Unveils Grevil MX: A Gravel Bike Blending Road Aerodynamics and Mountain Bike Control

As gravel cycling continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of both rider and machine, the need for more robust and versatile bicycles has become increasingly apparent. This shift was starkly evident at last year's Gravel Burn event, where the challenging terrain often favored bikes traditionally associated with mountain biking. Recognizing this trend and the rigorous demands of contemporary gravel stage races, Pinarello has launched its latest innovation: the Grevil MX. This new model aims to bridge the gap between road and mountain biking, promising an optimal blend of aerodynamic efficiency and off-road stability, thereby joining Pinarello's existing Grevil lineup as a more rugged option for demanding adventures.

Pinarello's Grevil MX: A Fusion of Trail Toughness and Road Finesse

In a strategic move that reflects the evolving landscape of gravel cycling, Pinarello has unveiled the Grevil MX, a bicycle engineered to master the most challenging off-road environments. This innovative model, introduced just months after observations from demanding events like Gravel Burn highlighted the need for more resilient gravel bikes, is essentially a re-engineered version of Pinarello's acclaimed Dogma XC hardtail mountain bike, now equipped with drop bars. Notably, the frameset maintains the aggressive geometry of its mountain bike predecessor, including a 67.75-degree head angle, a 75-degree seat tube angle, 101mm of trail, and 425mm chainstays (for a medium frame). It also incorporates the same high-performance 100mm Fox 32 Float Step-Cast (SC) Factory fork, ensuring superior shock absorption. The primary distinguishing feature is the integration of the Most Talon Ultra Light cockpit, a component typically reserved for Pinarello's top-tier road and gravel bikes, which offers both ergonomic benefits and aerodynamic advantages.

Crafted from Toray M40J carbon fiber, the Grevil MX's frame is specifically reinforced to endure the intense torsional forces and repeated impacts inherent to aggressive gravel riding. Its design features uniquely shaped chainstays and seatstays that enhance durability and compliance. While the frame is capable of accommodating tires up to 2.35 inches, Pinarello recommends 50mm Schwalbe G-One RS Pro gravel tires, striking a balance between speed and rider comfort. Powering this formidable machine is a 12-speed SRAM AXS Mullet setup, combining a 38-tooth chainring with an Eagle 10-52T cassette and an XX SL T-Type rear mountain bike derailleur for precise and reliable shifting. The frameset is versatile, supporting both electronic and mechanical groupsets with internal cable routing, and includes a UDH hanger and compatibility with a 30.9mm dropper post. Available in four sizes (S, M, L, XL) and a striking midnight blue, the complete medium-sized bicycle weighs in at 9.04kg. Reflecting its premium build and advanced technology, the SRAM AXS configuration of the Pinarello Grevil MX is priced at €8,500.
