Pinarello Unveils Upgraded Dogma X All-Rounder, Starting at £12,500

Pinarello has revealed its reimagined Dogma X, an all-road cycling machine that promises a blend of comfort, speed, and advanced engineering. This latest iteration, dubbed 'the ultimate all-rounder,' features significant upgrades, including a revamped carbon fiber frame structure influenced by the high-performance Dogma F, and subtle aerodynamic refinements. Cyclists seeking a premium experience can expect to invest a minimum of £12,500 for a fully equipped model.

The original Dogma X, first launched in 2023, garnered praise for its exceptional comfort and dynamic ride quality. Reviewers noted its slightly relaxed geometry and generous tire clearance for up to 35mm, striking a balance between a plush ride and unwavering performance. Despite its comfort-oriented design, the bike proved to be agile on flat sections, stable on descents, and efficient on climbs, challenging the notion that speed must come in an aggressively race-focused package.

A standout innovation of the initial Dogma X was its distinctive X Stays design, meticulously engineered to enhance lateral rigidity while preserving vertical compliance. While the subjective feel of this technology sparked discussions, its contribution to a remarkably smooth ride was widely acknowledged. The updated Dogma X now incorporates a redesigned X Stays 2.0 system, which, according to Pinarello's technical documentation, features a lower attachment point and optimized geometry. This revised configuration aims to distribute road vibrations more effectively through its four connection points, with the lower linkage specifically designed to minimize rebound, resulting in a more refined and controlled riding experience.

Furthermore, the new Dogma X adopts the same Torayca M40X carbon fiber composite material previously reserved for Pinarello's elite Dogma F model, which is a staple in professional racing circuits. Aerodynamic enhancements include a more streamlined head tube 'nose' design, an evolution of a feature first introduced on the Dogma F8 in 2014. This latest iteration reduces overall volume and frontal width, necessitated a complete overhaul of the head tube's internal structure. Pinarello developed an innovative elliptical shape accommodating a new headset with differentiated bearings – wider at the bottom and narrower at the top – to achieve these aerodynamic gains. The revised, tapered down tube not only improves airflow but also boosts lateral stiffness, promising a bike that is more responsive on ascents and swifter on flat and downhill sections, combining efficiency, power, and control across all conditions. The frame maintains clearance for 35mm tires, suitable for varied road conditions, and features a new dual-mount system ensuring compatibility with SRAM UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger).

Fausto Pinarello, the company's president, articulates that the new Dogma X is crafted for riders who measure true performance by their capacity to maintain optimal posture and power output over diverse distances and terrains. The bike is offered in an extensive range of 11 sizes and various color schemes and build options. Riders can also personalize their paint schemes through Pinarello's MyWay platform, available from July 24th. The lineup includes top-tier groupsets from Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo, paired with high-performance wheelsets such as Campagnolo Bora WTO 4S, DT Swiss ERC 1100, and Princeton Grit 4540. This premium selection underscores the Dogma X's positioning as a high-end bicycle designed to navigate the challenging road surfaces commonly encountered in daily rides, much like a top-tier road race bike. The frameset alone is priced at £5,500, with complete bicycles starting at £12,500.

The latest iteration of Pinarello's Dogma X represents a significant advancement in all-road cycling technology. By integrating cutting-edge materials and aerodynamic principles from its top-tier race bikes, alongside a redesigned suspension system and comprehensive customization options, Pinarello aims to provide an unparalleled riding experience for discerning cyclists. This commitment to innovation ensures that the Dogma X remains a frontrunner in combining comfort, versatility, and elite performance, justifying its premium market position.
