The 19-year-old cyclist, riding for Decathlon CMA CGM, launched a decisive solo attack on the demanding San Miguel de Aralar climb, ultimately crossing the finish line with a substantial lead. The second stage of the Itzulia Basque Country spanned 164 kilometers, guiding the peloton from Pamplona to Cuevas de Mendukilo.
