Cannondale Redefines Time Trial Performance with the New SuperSlice

Cannondale's SuperSlice has historically operated in the shadows of prominent time trial bikes like the Specialized Shiv and Pinarello Bolide. However, the company is now making a bold statement with its third-generation model, the SuperSlice Lab71 TT bike. This new iteration promises a significant leap in performance and versatility, aiming to overcome its predecessors' limited market presence.

Driven by the demands of WorldTour racing and the rapid advancements in aerodynamic technology, Cannondale engineered the new SuperSlice to be exceptionally fast and light. Extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and wind tunnel testing were employed to optimize every aspect of the bike, from its sculpted, deep-section tube shapes to a narrower head tube and a redesigned fork. These improvements result in a 10-watt reduction in yaw-weighted drag at 50 km/h compared to the previous model, a substantial gain that contributes to its superior speed. The frameset also features improved tire clearance for up to 32mm tires and a BSA threaded bottom bracket, catering to modern performance requirements.

Beyond its aerodynamic prowess, the SuperSlice offers enhanced control and adjustability in the time trial position thanks to a highly adaptable cockpit layout. The integrated deep-section airfoil seatpost maintains the same dimensions as the seat tube, providing both compliance and aerodynamic benefits, along with a wide range of fit options. Notably, the new SuperSlice is also designed for triathletes, compatible with discipline-specific hydration systems, expanding its appeal. While the frame is available globally in black with striking Cannondale and Lab71 logos, it comes as a frameset only, with a price tag of $6,999 / £6,995 / €6,999, making it a premium option for serious competitors.
