EXT Aria V2 Air Shock: Enhanced Compatibility and Advanced Performance

Sep 23, 2026, 2:55 PM

EXT has launched the Aria V2, a re-engineered air shock designed to overcome the compatibility challenges of its predecessor. This new iteration maintains EXT's distinctive dual-positive air chamber system, known as AS3 technology, which distinguishes it from conventional air shocks that typically use a positive-and-negative setup. The Aria V2 also integrates hydraulic bottom-out control (HBC), a feature pioneered by EXT for mountain bikes, enhancing its performance and tuning capabilities across various riding disciplines. With options tailored for aggressive trail, enduro, eMTB, and downhill/freeride, the Aria V2 aims to deliver an adaptable and refined suspension experience.

The Aria V2's core innovation lies in its AS3 technology, featuring two distinct positive air chambers (+chamber and ++chamber). This design allows riders to independently adjust the shock's initial and end stroke characteristics, providing an unprecedented level of customization. Unlike standard shocks that rely on volume spacers, which can compromise the shock's overall performance by making it too progressive or too soft, the Aria V2 offers 'endless' adjustability through precise air pressure modulation. This results in a shock that can maintain a supple and supportive feel in the early to mid-stroke while offering controlled ramp-up towards the end, preventing harsh bottom-outs.

Enhanced Bike Fit and Advanced Adjustability

The EXT Aria V2 air shock represents a significant evolution in mountain bike suspension, primarily addressing the fitment issues encountered with its original version. By redesigning the shock's structure, particularly reorienting the piggyback reservoir from horizontal to vertical and reducing the valve block's footprint, EXT has vastly improved its compatibility with a wider range of bike frames. This crucial modification means more riders can now benefit from EXT's advanced suspension technology without worrying about linkage interference. The Aria V2 retains its innovative dual-positive air chamber system, offering riders unparalleled control over their shock's performance throughout the entire stroke.

A key highlight of the Aria V2 is its AS3 technology, which incorporates a '+' chamber for the initial 60% of travel and a '++' chamber for the remaining 40%. These chambers are independently adjustable, providing fine-tuning capabilities that surpass those offered by traditional volume spacers. Riders can precisely dictate the shock's progressivity and the point at which it begins to ramp up, ensuring optimal support and sensitivity without the usual trade-offs. This air-based adjustability allows for a truly personalized setup, enabling the initial and mid-stroke to remain compliant while the end-stroke can be stiffened to prevent bottoming out, catering to diverse riding styles and terrain.

Hydraulic Bottom-Out Control and Versatile Options

Beyond its enhanced frame compatibility and sophisticated air spring, the Aria V2 incorporates EXT's renowned Hydraulic Bottom-Out Control (HBC) system. This technology, first introduced with the Storia V3, utilizes a secondary piston that enters an inner tube near the end of the stroke, forcing oil through a calibrated orifice. This hydraulic action precisely controls the progressivity in the final 15% of the shock's travel, effectively mitigating harsh bottom-outs and providing a smoother, more controlled ride even during extreme impacts. The integration of HBC further distinguishes the Aria V2, offering a level of end-stroke performance often associated with higher-end coil shocks.

EXT has made the Aria V2 available in two distinct variations to cater to different riding demands: one for aggressive trail, enduro, and e-mountain bikes, and another specifically designed for downhill and freeride. Both versions share core technologies like the AS3 dual-positive air chamber and a monotube design with high-speed and low-speed compression and rebound adjustments. However, the DH/freeride model features a specialized HBC system capable of generating 20% more force at the end of the stroke, reflecting the higher demands of gravity-oriented riding. Both models boast a robust Ø14 mm chromoly steel shaft and EV2S fluid for durability and consistent performance, ensuring that riders across disciplines can find an Aria V2 optimized for their specific needs.
