In response to the increasing demand for aerodynamic solutions in gravel cycling, WTB has partnered with Stromm to launch an innovative range of gravel tires. This collaboration introduces cutting-edge features like 'vortex generators' and refined casing designs across three existing models: the Byway RS, Course, and Macro. The efficiency of these newly designed tires becomes more pronounced at higher speeds, a critical advantage for competitive gravel racing. Extensive testing, both in controlled velodrome environments and real-world scenarios, has demonstrated notable wattage savings. Specifically, riders can expect to conserve approximately 5.8 watts at 30 km/h and up to 13.8 watts at 40 km/h. This performance gain is attributed to the strategic integration of vortex generators and trip strips on the tire sidewalls, which actively manage airflow and minimize the low-pressure wake that typically contributes to drag.
